Welcome to Liberia Birder
We support bird and nature conservation through awareness, citizen engagement, and capacity building in Liberia.
Our focuses include bird data collection and bird watching in Liberia, awareness raising, and capacity building for future conservation.
Current Species Data
Successful conservation of species depends on accurate and current information. We seek to gain this by increased and regular birding trips around Liberia, using data from monitoring programs, and citizen science projects.
Fledgling birders and citizen scientists are further encouraged by available birding tools, equipment-provision support, and group outings.
The Liberian Bird Atlas
We contribute to conservation through citizen-science, researcher- and tourist- driven data collection initiatives.
The African Bird Map, founded in South Africa, aims to increase knowledge of bird species across Africa. The Liberian Bird Atlas was launched in 2019. Birders and nature lovers are encouraged to join the project and contribute data about birds.

Capacity Building
We offer short courses on bird watching and bird identification, to build capacity for bird data collection. Content covered includes an overview of local bird conservation, bird identification basics, bird atlassing and research tools and resources, and these presentations are rounded off with practical field sessions in the form of birding trip.
